Back in April 1981, Chuck Robinson took us to the Torker factory in Fullerton, CA and I became the UK importer for the brand. At the time the complete bike range consisted of the Torkflyte and Maxflyte which were offered in Candy Blue, Candy Red, Black or Chrome.

Fast forward 44 years and Torker is back and we took the cues for that original Maxflyte to build a modern version based on the new LP Race frameset, still with classic twin toptube and round-hole gusset – but with some modern touches to made the bike nicer to ride – like a V-brake (that actually works), a clamp-on 1 1/8″ threadless fork system (that actually stays tight) and a longer 21.25″ toptube (so you can actually ride it). All in classic Candy Blue with gold components.

Classic BMX Design with Modern Performance

Frame and Fork

The frame is built from seamless 4130 chromoly tubing, making it strong yet lightweight. The Torker TK 1 1/8” heat-treated threadless forks provide precise steering. The dual top tube race frame preserves the original Torker style. The Pro XL geometry features a 21.25″ top tube, 15.25″ chainstay, 11.625″ bottom bracket height, and 74.5° head angle, ensuring a stable ride.

Components for Control and Performance

This bike features a Tribal integrated headset, Torker Ultra-6 clamp-on stem, and United HMW cro-mo bars with 9.1″ rise for maximum control. A’ME Dual grips, Box Three brake lever with v-brake, and Odyssey slim clear brake pads provide reliable stopping power. Pedaling is smooth thanks to GT Power Series cranks, Gusset EXP sealed Euro bottom bracket, MKS BM-7 pedals, and Mirage spider.

Wheels and Drivetrain

The Skyway Tuff Wheels with gold alloy riveted flanges and Tioga Comp III skinwall tyres combine style and performance. The bike also includes a SunTour-style chainring, KMC Z1 Wide chain, and 4-Jeri 1/8” chrome freewheel, making it fully functional and ride-ready.
